Erayak 4500PDE 4500W Dual-Fuel Inverter Generator for RV & Home Backup with Electric Start

We bought this product for use during power outages during hurricanes in Florida . It is clean, easy to use, lightweight to move around and has enough power for our refrigerator, television, coffee pot and other low loads when we need them. We are using natural gas and bought the model with an electric start for ease of use.

First off, this generator is really nice. It's compact, packed up nicely, was double boxed and secured well. I bought a smaller Erayak in the past that I liked which was just enough power for a deep freezer and maybe a fridge, however this generator is dual-fuel, which allows me to run it off a propane tank instead of having to store gasoline. This is a lot easier, as you can see in the picture above with the hose. I got the hose and connectors for my propane setup on Amazon from Patiogem for $44, and it works great.

I highly recommend watching the YouTube video from James Condon about this generator. He does a great job showing and explaining the proper break-in process, which is very important. The oil in the picture above shows how dirty it got after the 1st change, full of metal fragments.

The oil was pretty hard to find in small containers—I had to visit 3 different automotive stores before finding quart-sized SAE 15W-40, as most stores only carried gallons. However, if you can't find that specific oil, James mentions a suitable alternative in his video. It took about 3 full plastic fillers at the 200 line to fill it up properly using the filler included with the generator.

I used 2 space heaters to pull enough wattage to break the generator in properly. I ran it for about an hour before my 1st oil change, which, as you can see, came out quite dirty.

Overall, it's a great generator that I highly recommend. I won't be using it often and will keep it stored most of the time, but I am glad how easy it was to get going, how much power it comfortably ran, and most of all, how convenient it is to run on propane.

Been watching James Condon's videos for a while, and, I suppose impulse bought this because it ticked the boxes that I have been thinking about and I was impressed with how it performed. Clean sine wave inverter, good capacity, can run in parallel if needed, and for me, dual fuel (propane and gasoline). No natural gas in my area, so I won't use that.

Admittedly I haven't put it to much work yet, but I have been running it for break-in on both gasoline and propane. It starts on the second or third pull for me. It does auto-switch between the two fuels as described, stumbling slightly but not stalling out. I did notice the red propane light only partially lighting up when I slowly cracked the propane valve, but when I shut it off, paused, and then opened it quickly, the red light lit up bright. I did the first oil change after 1-1/2 hours of running, and there was some fine glitter in the oil, but nothing that concerns me yet. I'm running 15W-40 in it.

Overall, it seems like a good unit, but there are a couple of things worth mentioning. For one, the sticker on the side says 450mL oil, the manual says 0.6L of oil, and I ended up adding 650mL to get halfway up the dipstick. 450mL barely wet the tip of the dipstick. Also, the Phillips-head gas bowl drain screw is blocked by the side support bar. It looks like it'll be tricky to drain the bowl. Update: Not really tricky, but use a flatblade instead, Phillips didn't catch very well. Draining the bowl does get a few teaspoons of gas out.

But the unit runs very smooth, is not noisy (I wouldn't say it's quiet, but it's not annoying), it holds voltage and frequency well (~122V at 59.97Hz is what I was seeing with 1000W of load), and the wheeled dolly addition makes it easy to move around. I'm pleased with it so far. I'm feeding it non-ethanol gasoline but am going to invest in a couple more containers of propane for longer term storage. This will be an emergency generator for me. Here in Texas we need all the backup power we can get.

I bought this for a long camping trip, and it came in quite useful for lighting and to keep the tent warm, which it did quite well. What separated this one from my other generators is that it can be turned on with propane and not just gas, which saved me money. Also, it's quite small for the power that it puts out, which is a good thing in my case since our tent wasn't big. Besides that, it helps around the house. For example, we had a typhoon in our area, and the power went out, so it was useful to keep the heat and our living room lights on and never died on us.

At first, the cost kind of scared me off a bit, but as it turned out, it was actually more convenient since I would have to buy two generators for the power this one brings. This one seems like it would outlast the other ones anyways. My brother also bought one, and he has also been happy with it, saying that it lasts for a long time and is better than most of his other generators. It is good value for the price. I like that you can alternate between gas and propane, so use what is more convenient for you.

Overall, I would recommend this product. In summary, it lasts a while, is functional, and is surprisingly a good bang for the buck. I asked my brother if he would recommend this to anyone else, and in the brief time he had it, he also says he would recommend it and that it's all around a pretty good product, especially for it being propane and gas powered . I think it is must have product that each household needs to have. Recommend.

This is a mighty generator in it's small form factor. It comes in at only 54lbs whereas similar competition are weighing in close to 100lbs.

Con: No Eco throttle switch, it defaults to low idle, but revving up may be necessary for larger appliances. Since this is a larger generator, I'm not worried about it.

This is an excellent product. I’ve been using it for several weeks now for my small car wash business, and honestly, I have no complaints. It is also very economical in terms of consumption, as you can run it on gas alone or on a combination of gas and propane simultaneously. I bought it mainly as a backup power solution for home use and camping trips, and it has exceeded my expectations in several ways. The generator arrived on time. No damage to the packaging. It arrived with the electric start battery connected and therefore dead. Contacted Erayak, who advised me to run it for several hours using manual start. It was the fault of Erayak, but their suggestion did work even though they made no attempt to make up for the inconvenience. So this was baseline adequate customer service, nothing above and beyond. I've only used it two times to power my rv since purchasing it two months ago. The generator itself works very well, and is very quiet using propane. I have not yet run it using gasoline. So far I would give the generator itself 4 stars, customer service 3.

It was packaged well and arrived without any problems. Took about 10 minutes to set up (add oil,gas,and connect batty).Broke it in for about 10 hours and everything worked as advertised. It started very easily and switched between gas and propane flawlessly.

I work from home online and really cannot afford to be out of electricity for a long period of time so I decided to make this purchase . Having a generator benefits me because I can continue working with no electricity stay connected online, keep my refrigerator running and reduce the risk of food spoiling. I was able to run several appliances at the same time, including my fridge, TV, and modem,.The generator's build quality is solid, and I'm particularly fond of the low oil and carbon monoxide sensors, which provide an added layer of safety. It gives me about 12 hours comfortable using gas. I haven’t tried my microwave on it as yet. Not sure how it would function with it. Overall I’d say this was a pretty good investment and would recommend. Compact and lightweight so it’s easy to put away after using. I own a 28’ off grid trailer and bought this as a backup power source to the 1600w of solar panels installed. This power then feeds into a 3000w Multiplus II coupled to a 20Kwh lithium battery bank. System is setup to run 100% off 2 40lb propane tanks and I carry a 5 gal gas can as a reserve which I’ve never needed. The electric start works everytime for an effortless start sequence and once coupled to my trailer, it provides quiet, clean and constant 30A amp output. Whatever my appliances don’t consume gets used to recharge the battery bank so it never kicks down to a lower RPM. It just runs at close to max power constantly and reliably until I turn it off. I have run different brand generators over the years and this is one of the best, Electric starter, compact size, dual fual capability, clean regulated output, competitive pricing and lightning fast shipping sealed the deal. I would highly recommend this unit!

Added oil,added fuel,started 1st pull….great broke it in for 2 hours,changed oil,ran another 2 hours with varying load,changed oil. Electric start and auto shift between gas and propane is amazing. Have not used for portable power yet,but expect it will be very capable,w-under recommend to anyone on fence

It ran my rv ac no problem and I’m sure it’ll run both. My only small gripes are no eco mode on electric start model and it’s a little louder than I thought it would be. Maybe because there’s no eco

I was searching for a smaller tri fuel generator and it had to be an inverter generator. All I could find was the big boys and not inverted. Then I found the 4500. But let me get to the point. Now a days customer service has been poor with many companies but Erayak gets not 5 stars, but they definitely get 10 stars. Every question I emailed was not only answered within 24 hours but with exactness and easy for me to understand. Excellent. The unit was delivered as promised and packed perfectly. Oil easy to add. Gas easy to add and also easy to empty the carburetor for storage. Ran perfect and actually ran just as well on propane. Still need to try natural gas.
Love the electric start. Probably more could have been written in the manual, but honestly their excellent customer support was better than a 50 page manual. It’s new but I owned a manufacturing plant for over 25 years and I am beyond picky and this generator appears to be built with a lot of expertise.

I purchased the Erayak 4500PD multi-fuel generator a few months ago, and it has been a game-changer for my home backup and camping needs. Out of the box, it worked flawlessly with gasoline and propane. Gasoline provided the full 3600 watts of rated power, while propane gave around 3200 watts, which was more than enough for my essentials. However, I initially believed the generator couldn’t be connected to a home natural gas pipeline, as the product documentation recommended against it. Despite this, the performance on bottled natural gas was impressive, delivering stable power at around 3200 watts.

Update #1 (September):
After speaking with Erayak’s exceptional customer service team, I learned that the 4500PD can be connected to a natural gas pipeline with the correct pressure regulator. They provided detailed instructions and recommended the specific regulator I would need. I decided to give it a try. Once I purchased the recommended accessory and installed it, I successfully connected the generator to my home’s pipeline natural gas. The generator ran perfectly and delivered reliable performance without any hiccups. This was a huge relief, as it added a whole new level of convenience to my setup.

Update #2 (October):
As I continued to use the 4500PD, I was increasingly impressed with its versatility and compact design. It’s noticeably smaller than other generators in its class, making it easy to store and transport. This became especially useful during a camping trip where its portability allowed me to power multiple devices without hassle. The noise level was low enough to avoid disturbing others, even in a quiet camping environment. The clean power output also worked flawlessly for my sensitive electronics like a laptop and phone chargers.

Update #3 (November):
Having experienced how well the 4500PD handled my needs, I decided to purchase a second Erayak generator, the 4500PDE, for parallel operation. Erayak’s parallel kit was straightforward to set up and came with detailed video instructions that made the process simple. Once connected, the two units worked seamlessly together, doubling my power output to handle larger appliances and higher loads during a family gathering. The parallel kit is well-designed and highly effective, making this an excellent option for those who need expanded power capabilities.

After months of use, I can confidently say the Erayak 4500PD is one of the most reliable and versatile generators I’ve owned. The ability to use gasoline, propane, or natural gas—whether bottled or piped—gives unparalleled flexibility.
