A Closer Look at the Erayak 4500PD

A Closer Look at the Erayak 4500PD

I’ve always appreciated inverters for their quiet operation, fuel efficiency, and clean power. All of my personal generators are inverters, and the Erayak 4500PD caught my eye because it offers some features that my current models don't have, making it worth a closer look.

One of the most impressive features is the automatic fuel switching. Unlike other generators that require manual input, the 4500PD automatically switches between gasoline, propane, and natural gas. When the pressure from the propane tank drops, it seamlessly switches to gasoline, allowing for continuous operation without any interruptions. This feature is not only convenient but also helps to maximize the generator's runtime by efficiently managing fuel sources.

The 4500PD is also equipped with advanced inverter technology, boasting a THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) of just 0.2% to 1.2%, which is significantly lower than the typical 1.9% found in power grids. This makes it safe for even the most sensitive electronics.

Despite its compact size and 149cc engine, this generator can produce a reliable 3500 watts of power, making it a leader in its class. Additionally, it features a 30 Amp RV outlet and parallel capability, enabling users to double the power output when necessary.

In summary, the Erayak 4500PD stands out as a versatile and efficient power solution that is well-suited for a variety of needs, from RVs to home backup power. Its intelligent fuel management system and superior inverter technology make it a reliable choice for anyone in need of portable power.

For those interested in a deeper dive into its performance and features, I have done a comprehensive review in his video. If you resonate with what you've read so far, be sure to check out mine full video review for more insights.

Erayak 4500PD Not for Direct Pipeline Natural Gas - Still Highly Recommended!

I recently bought the Erayak 4500PDE multi-fuel generator, and while I’m thrilled with its power and flexibility, there’s an important detail for potential buyers: the 4500PD is not designed for direct connection to home natural gas pipelines. Instead, it works best with gasoline, propane, or bottled natural gas.

In my tests, gasoline provided full power at 3600 watt, ideal for emergency home backup. Propane and bottled natural gas each delivered about 3200 watt of rated power, which met all my needs. Erayak tested this unit with bottled natural gas, but given varying pipeline standards across states, connecting it to a home gas line is not recommended as it may affect performance and even compliance with local regulations. For those interested in using piped gas, I’d recommend consulting a licensed professional for a safe setup.

One feature that stands out is its compact size – it’s the smallest generator I’ve seen at this power level, noticeably smaller than other 3000W models yet still delivering the full rated output. This compact design makes it easy to store and move around; I primarily use it for camping trips and as a backup for power outages at home. The portability is a huge bonus, allowing me to take it along wherever extra power is needed without a hassle.

The customer service has been outstanding. I’ve owned this unit since August, and I’ve had about a dozen email exchanges with the team regarding setup and best usage practices. Each time, they responded within 24 hours, and I found them to be both professional and friendly, which gives me great peace of mind.

That said, I still highly recommend this generator. I’m even considering buying a second 4500PDM (or possibly the 4500P model) to run in parallel. Erayak has recently released a new parallel kit with video guidance, making setup simple and allowing me to increase power output for larger needs.

In summary, the Erayak 4500PD is an outstanding, versatile generator with multi-fuel options that make it suitable for any emergency or outdoor use. If you’re considering natural gas, remember that bottled gas is best. For anyone in need of a reliable, multi-fuel generator with flexible power options, the Erayak 4500PD is a great investment – and I’d highly recommend it!

Excellent Generator and Great Company

First: The Generator - Absolutely perfect. Compact, quiet, and weight is 1/2 that of other 4500W generators I looked at. It is truly hand portable and fits easily into the trunk of my car. I Have thoroughly tested it and it meets specification of 3500W for gasoline and exceeds specs for Propane. It Will run propane continuously at 3200W, spec is 3100W. Also, it is very well built, and operates and starts easily. I am very pleased with this purchase.
SECOND: The company--Erayak only has a small presence in the USA and don't look for a domestic phone number to call. However, there online support is really 24/7 and you will get a response within a few hours. I accidentally ordered a gasoline only generator (a layout issue with their online order form). As per their warranty, I returned it. I thought I would be charged about $100 for return shipping since it was my mistake. Instead, they immediately altered their web page to remove issue confused my ordering and refunded me the full price with no deduction for return shipping. Way to go Erayak!!! Five star product and five star company. By the way this is a genuine user response. They did a great job and deserve credit.

Works as well as described

Been watching James Condon's videos for a while, and, I suppose impulse bought this because it ticked the boxes that I have been thinking about and I was impressed with how it performed. Clean sine wave inverter, good capacity, can run in parallel if needed, and for me, dual fuel (propane and gasoline). No natural gas in my area, so I won't use that.

Admittedly I haven't put it to much work yet, but I have been running it for break-in on both gasoline and propane. It starts on the second or third pull for me. It does auto-switch between the two fuels as described, stumbling slightly but not stalling out. I did notice the red propane light only partially lighting up when I slowly cracked the propane valve, but when I shut it off, paused, and then opened it quickly, the red light lit up bright. I did the first oil change after 1-1/2 hours of running, and there was some fine glitter in the oil, but nothing that concerns me yet. I'm running 15W-40 in it.

Overall, it seems like a good unit, but there are a couple of things worth mentioning. For one, the sticker on the side says 450mL oil, the manual says 0.6L of oil, and I ended up adding 650mL to get halfway up the dipstick. 450mL barely wet the tip of the dipstick. Also, the Phillips-head gas bowl drain screw is blocked by the side support bar. It looks like it'll be tricky to drain the bowl. Update: Not really tricky, but use a flatblade instead, Phillips didn't catch very well. Draining the bowl does get a few teaspoons of gas out.

But the unit runs very smooth, is not noisy (I wouldn't say it's quiet, but it's not annoying), it holds voltage and frequency well (~122V at 59.97Hz is what I was seeing with 1000W of load), and the wheeled dolly addition makes it easy to move around. I'm pleased with it so far. I'm feeding it non-ethanol gasoline but am going to invest in a couple more containers of propane for longer term storage. This will be an emergency generator for me. Here in Texas we need all the backup power we can get.

Good value for the price

I bought this for a long camping trip, and it came in quite useful for lighting and to keep the tent warm, which it did quite well. What separated this one from my other generators is that it can be turned on with propane and not just gas, which saved me money. Also, it's quite small for the power that it puts out, which is a good thing in my case since our tent wasn't big. Besides that, it helps around the house. For example, we had a typhoon in our area, and the power went out, so it was useful to keep the heat and our living room lights on and never died on us.

At first, the cost kind of scared me off a bit, but as it turned out, it was actually more convenient since I would have to buy two generators for the power this one brings. This one seems like it would outlast the other ones anyways. My brother also bought one, and he has also been happy with it, saying that it lasts for a long time and is better than most of his other generators. It is good value for the price. I like that you can alternate between gas and propane, so use what is more convenient for you.

Overall, I would recommend this product. In summary, it lasts a while, is functional, and is surprisingly a good bang for the buck. I asked my brother if he would recommend this to anyone else, and in the brief time he had it, he also says he would recommend it and that it's all around a pretty good product, especially for it being propane and gas powered . I think it is must have product that each household needs to have. Recommend.
